Simon James visited CCS today with an important message on personal safety on the internet and social platform sites. He sang numerous songs and was a great way to start the week on a very positive note.
Health and Fitness Ireland delivered a 6 hour workshop to all our 5th Year students which included theoretical and practical elements of developing a healthy lifestyle.
It included focus on; Physical & psychological benefits of exercise, Activity selection for individuals, i.e. Circuit, cross, HIIT, Nutrition and hydration, Fitness psychology and motivational strategies, Activity and nutrition diaries.
Special thanks to Noel McGrath All Ireland Hurling winner this year with Tipperary for coming to CCS to talk with our 2nd Years. It is an initiative for secondary schools which uses sports stars and skills learnt through sport to build confidence and develop life skills.
Ann Fennelly from Abbott is working with Fifth year LCVP students completing The Junior Achievers Programme. Ann visits the class once a week to teach the Programme. Each lesson is hands on and activity based. Topics include Communication Skills, Teamwork, Developing Curriculum Vitae and Presentation Skills. The Fifth Year students have learnt a great deal. Thank you to Ann for giving up her free time to deliver this programme.
Mr Andy Hargreaves, Drug Education Officer from the HSE was invited to speak to Second Year Students As part of their SPHE Programme earlier this week. A follow on session will take place before Easter.
