A limited number of places are available on this course – last date for enrolling is Friday next, 28th September. The course is suited to male and female applicants – school leavers and mature students who want to up-grade their skills or want to use the course as a means of progression to further third level education.

We have the most up-to-date software applications including Microsoft Office 2010. Modules include: Word Processing, Text Production, Reception and Office Administration, Spreadsheet, Database, Internet e-mail etc, Communications and Work Experience.

Fifth and Sixth Class pupils and their parents/guardians are invited to and an open night at Coláiste Cois Siúire on Thursday, 1o October commencing at 7 pm.

The Principal, Mr Paul Duggan will address the gathering at 7.15 pm – Teachers from all subject departments will be present and available to answer any queries/questions on the night.

Sports Day 2011

Coláiste Cois Siúire Sports Day and BBQ takes place tomorrow, Thursday, 19 May. A contribution of €2 per student will be collected on Thursday morning. Students do not need to wear uniform – track suit with appropriate footwear. Sports Day, music and BBQ will end at 2 pm approx.

Annual Fashion Show

Coláiste Cois Siúire Parents’ Association are currently very busy preparing to host our annual fashion show. This event will take place on Friday, 25 March in the Parochial Hall at 8 pm. Your generous support would be appreciated. Tickets are available from the School Office and Parents’ Association.

Proceeds will be directed towards school library facilities and equipment.

A night not to be missed with a great star prize, spot prizes, raffle and entertainment.

Fashion is being provided by: Arielle’s Wedding and Debs Wear, Bourke’s Menswear, Benetton, Dove Hill, ERS Workwear, Mary’s Fashions, Michael H – Shaws, Next Waterford, Old Court Saddlery, Orchid and Outfield Sports.

End of Term Show – The X Factor

Our Variety Concert The X Factor was a great success. The students and staff worked extremely hard to bring the show together. For many students it was their chance to shine, performing songs of their favourite pop idols!!

Students gave 3 performances of the show – students from the primary schools of Carrigeen, Kilmacow, Piltown and Mooncoin attended. Both students and parents really enjoyed the event.

Excellent performances were given by Joanne O Brien, Mary Teresa O Connor, Katie Kammerer and Stephen Greene with Mary Teresa and Stephen being crowned worthy winners!!!

Congratulations and well done to all performers!!!

Credit Union Poster Competition 2010

This year our Second Year Art Students entered the CU Poster Competition – we had four prize winners:

11 to 13 year category Winner and First Place Chantelle Jordan

Third Place Ryan Power

14 to 17 year category Third Place Chloe Reville

Special Category First Place Josh Power

Well done to all involved. The Posters by Chantelle and Josh have gone on to the next stage of the competition and will represent St Dominic’s Credit Union, Waterford at Chapter Level. Congratulations and best of luck at the next stage.

Maths Week

It is that time of year again!! Maths week is rolling into school and runs from 9th to 16th October. As part of this week we are encouraging students to see maths as a fun activity by getting them to sample some online games catering for all ability and skill levels.

This year, the County Kilkenny VEC Scholarship for Gaeilge has been awarded to Joanne O’Brien, a second year student.

Joanne will spend two weeks in Coláiste Bhréanainn, Baile an Bhuineánaigh, Co Chiarraí. Cómhgairdeas Joanne!!
